PUBLIC MEETING - survivors and representatives of deceased soldiers of the
War of 1812 met in convention in the city of Philadelphia on the 9th day of
Jan., 1854. A meeting of that portion of the citizens of Brooke Co. was
held in Wellsburg at the Court House on Sat. the 23rd day of Dec. 1854.

The following gentlemen were appointed delegates to the convention of the
soldiers of the War of 1812 to meet at the city of Washington on the 8th
day Jan., 1855, viz: Patrick GASS, Maj. John MILLER, William TARR and Ellis
C. JONES.
